On July 6th I had two engagement sessions! One in the morning in Emigrant and another in the evening in Bozeman. So that morning I headed up to Dome Mountain Ranch in Paradise Valley to shoot Alex and Christina’s engagements. They try to make it up here every July to spend time on Alex’s dad’s ranch, which is an incredible place. Every time I go to Gardiner or the area you can see all the elk right off the highway in their fields, so I was excited to explore more!
We headed up the mountain in their Jeep, loaded with pepper spray and an AR. They had seen a grizzly close to where we were headed so we stayed alert and prepared. We spotted some elk too, and if you know me at all they are my favorite animal and so my saying goes “any day I see elk is a good day”. We shot at the cutest little pond, the loveliest mountainside covered in wildflowers, on top of Dome Mountain with views in every direction, and by some cool rocks on the Yellowstone. Oh Paradise valley, why you so pretty?
Christina said she had reached out to a few different photographers, but being it was a short weeks notice she didn’t have too much luck. She mentioned she was trying to get Benjamin Patch to do the photos but he was in Europe. So even though I’m no Benjamin Patch (yet lol) it just excited me so much to hear I have a similar feel in my photos, because he’s a favorite photographer of mine. Goals, thank you for the kind words, Christina!
One can’t go wrong shooting in Paradise Valley Montana, but it was so fun to Jeep around with these guys and see even more of it! Christina and Alex, thanks so much for taking me on an adventure, let’s do it again!
then Alex saw this creek and made it happen! Good call!
