“Will you come down to the Big Horn Mountains and shoot our bridal photos?”
Today, May 23rd, was their big wedding day. It was going to be in Red Lodge, beautiful, big, and amazing, even though right now outside it’s snowing (oh Montana). But April 14th Avery called me and they had decided to cancel their wedding, instead, she asked if I would come down to shoot their bridal photos down in Wyoming.
So April 19th I packed up my bags, picked up her flowers and cake, and drove down to Sheridan. We drove up into the mountains, where we spent some time taking photos, trying not to get her dress red, and enduring the cold breeze. Avery’s dress is one of my favorites, gosh she is stunning in it! She also had a long veil which we all know is one of my favorite things. Richard and Avery both joke a lot, laugh a lot, and seem like an old couple who’ve been together forever, it’s sweet. ☺️ Afterward we drove down where we took some family photos before dinner. While doing family photos the man who was going to officiate pretended for a moment, and they sealed it with a kiss.
While it might not have been what they had dreamed about, I’m so glad they still got dressed up, went out, and spent time together. Covid has interrupted so many events, and it breaks my heart to see all the weddings being cancelled/postponed. But these two rolled with it and made the best out of it, and it was good to see. Also I sure hope I get to head down there again, so if having a Big Horn Mountains elopement has ever crossed your mind…let me know!
