I’ve been excited for this industrial Billings wedding all year. Due to living out of state, I never got the chance to meet Kim and Brodie before their big day. But emailing back and forth I really loved Kim’s vision, and was so excited to meet them. So the months prior to their wedding it was all timeline planning and coordinating with the team.
The morning of the wedding I showed up early to 2905 on Montana Ave. first. I was met with a smile from Pat Clark who was coordinating and we chatted as I shot the incredible space. Kim the bride had seriously put together the A team, cause along with Pat (who’s the best), Better to Gather Events was in on the reception decor/setup. Kim was going for an “earthy industrial” look, and I’d say her and B2G killed it. Pheasant feathers, greenery, rabbit fur, wood, leather. Ya, killed it. B2G had Penned Designs create custom signage for the pie + drink tables, which were freaking incredible. But possibly my favorite thing was the copper mug shelf. Every little detail was thought out and it all came together perfect.
I headed to the church a few blocks away and I found Kim. First thing I noticed was her dress, obvi. 😱 So unique and classy, and it fit her like a glove. The girls put on the finishing touches with her dress and hairpiece and I sat down among their guests. It was such a beautiful ceremony and I caught a few sweet moments between Kim and Brodie. As they exited the church, they hopped in a horse drawn carriage. I ran across the street, shot them as they rode by, hopped in my truck and caught up with them at the stop light (I say caught up but horses walk at like 4mph 🤣). Beat them to 2905 where we headed out for portraits.
I had scouted out the area the day before, and found a few good spots very close. It was pretty cold out and they didn’t want to leave their guests/family for long. So we ran around the alleys for about 20 minutes as everyone gathered inside for appetizers, drinks and conversation.
I think everyone really enjoyed the functionality and laid back atmosphere. There were games, Stella’s pies, comfy places to sit, the dj was great, and drinks were plenty. Kim and Brodie are not very traditional, which I love. At one point during the reception they decided they weren’t doing a first dance, father/mother dance, tosses or toasts. They just visited and danced with everyone. Kim also changed into a black sequin cocktail dress which she wore for the whole reception, cause she’s badass like that.
As the reception was winding down, I stayed for just a few extra minutes to visit with Pat and help with a little bit of the takedown. All I can say is I don’t know if I could do such late nights like she does! Kim gave us a set of left over mugs and I headed home. Well, I grabbed cafe rio then headed home.
I hope everyone enjoys these photos! This day was stunning in every way and I loved shooting out of my normal nature scenes. This Billings wedding makes me want so shoot more downtown!
